The Texas Hater Nation

As I await the BCS National Championship I'm astonished to see just how big the Texas Hater Nation has grown. The media, the bitter scheduled opponents,in state rivals. It is easy to see that nothing is ever given to this Texas program, always EARNED. I am astonished at all the articles I read, all the blog posts I skim, and the conversations that I pick up on from people less than qualified to speak. "Texas doesn't deserve to be in the big game, Texas has no chance against the Tide, did you see that god awful performance against Nebraska?" Any true athlete, any true competitor knows, a Win is a Win no matter how ugly it had to look while making it happen. It's obvious that the Longhorns didn't have its best performance against Nebraska, but it wasn't bad enough to deny the success they had throughout the entire season. Texas Hater Nation you spend to much time reviewing the Big 12 Championship and not looking at the season long performance! The college football ceremonies are over, the heisman winner awarded. Bowl games are among us, and the biggest bowl game of all scheduled for Jan. 7th. What a matchup it's going to be! The BCS system has this one right regardless of what the Texas Hater Nation has to say! Two classic Programs face off, Texas vs. Alabama. SO many opinions, and so much time before kickoff in Pasadena. Texas coming off a shaky Big 12 championship performance and Alabama coming off a near perfect performance against college football power Florida with "superman" Tim Tebow. It seems that once again the Texas Hater Nation has looked past the Texas Longhorns and crowned Alabama the 2010 BCS champions prematurely. Just as they did for the 2005 BCS Championship game when Texas "upset" USC. (Jaw Dropper if I remember correctly) This is how it breaks down in my eyes.

Texas had a stellar year, as did Alabama. Texas had a weak conference you say? Texas had a weak schedule? Let us not forget that Texas absolutely pounded that schedule with the exception of a few games. As did Florida and Alabama. Was the Texas schedule or conference Weak? Maybe, but one thing certain, the Longhorns made its opponents look that way when they lined up to that pigskin on Saturday. Here you are as expected Texas Hater Nation, with only one refernce of the Texas Longhorn football team. The Big 12 Championship! As it appears in your minds Texas only had one game this season. A quick refresher!

Texas vs. ULM Austin, Texas W, 59-20
Texas at Wyoming Laramie, Wy. W, 41-10
Texas vs. Texas Tech Austin, Texas W, 34-24
Texas vs. UTEP Austin, Texas W, 64-7
Texas vs. Colorado Austin, Texas W, 38-14
Texas vs. Oklahoma Dallas, Texas W, 16-13
Texas at Missouri Columbia, Mo. W, 41-7
Texas at Oklahoma State Stillwater, Okla. W, 41-14
Texas vs. UCF Austin, Texas W, 35-3
Texas at Baylor Waco, Texas W, 47-14
Texas vs. Kansas Austin, Texas W, 51-20
Texas at Texas A&M College Station, Texas W, 49-39

Alabama vs Tennessee W 12-10
Alabama vs Auburn W 26-21

Above you have two games that Alabama finds themselves equally as "lucky" getting past to find a way into the BCS Championship. Let the hater nation not forget so quickly, and let the hater nation not be so quick to look past the Longhorns or discredit their season.

Bottom Line:

Keys to this matchup will fall 100% on the performance in the trenches. Texas O-Line coming off of their poorest performance with one month to correct their mistakes, study film, and to come out thirsty for some reckoning! Colt McCoy with more time in the pocket will give him what he needs to expose the Tide, and to open up the Texas running game. The Defense will need to be prepared to continue its streak of being stingy to offensive running schemes, and taking Mark Ingram out of the equation leaving an unqualified McElroy to carry his team on the biggest stage of his career. Yes, this stage is larger than the SEC Championship!

This will no doubt be a battle!!

In Closing:

I would take Texas under Mack Brown in BIG game situations as an underdog with a chip on their shoulder, and something to prove to the Texas Hater Nation any day of the week. 365 x 24/7!

Texas 35
Alabama 24

How do you think this game will turn out?
